सुरुङ्गाम् अमित्र स्थाने बहु मुखीं कृत्वा निचय मुख्यान् अभिहारयेत्, अमित्रं वा ॥
having widened the mouth of the underground tunnel of the enemy's fort, his stores and leaders may be removed; the enemy may also be likewise carried off.
english translation
suruGgAm amitra sthAne bahu mukhIM kRtvA nicaya mukhyAn abhihArayet, amitraM vA ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपर प्रयुक्तायां वा सुरुङ्गायां परिखाम् उदक अन्तिकीं खानयेत्, कूप शालाम् अनुसालं वा ॥
when the underground tunnel has been made by the enemy for his own use, the water in the ditch outside the fort may be made to flow into it.
english translation
para prayuktAyAM vA suruGgAyAM parikhAm udaka antikIM khAnayet, kUpa zAlAm anusAlaM vA ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतोय कुम्भान् कांस्य भाण्डानि वा शङ्का स्थानेषु स्थापयेत् खात अभिज्ञान अर्थम् ॥
One should place water jars or bronze vessels in locations where a breach is suspected in order to detect the presence of a tunnel.
english translation
toya kumbhAn kAMsya bhANDAni vA zaGkA sthAneSu sthApayet khAta abhijJAna artham ॥

when the direction of the tunnel is found out, a counter-tunnel may be formed

jJAte suruGgA pathe pratisuruGgAM kArayet ॥

or having opened the tunnel, it may be filled with smoke or water.
