Shiva Purana
तदाप्रभृति लोकेषु निष्कलं लिंगमैश्वरम् । सकलं च तथा बेरं शिवस्यैव प्रकल्पितम् 1-5-३० ।
From that time onwards the divine phallus and the embodied image, both, were assigned to Śiva alone.
english translation
tadAprabhRti lokeSu niSkalaM liMgamaizvaram । sakalaM ca tathA beraM zivasyaiva prakalpitam 1-5-30 ।
