श्रवणं कीर्तनं शंभोर्मननं च महत्तरम् । त्रयं साधनमुक्तं च विद्यते वेदसंमतम् १६ ।
It has already been mentioned that there are three means in conformity with Vedic ideal viz. Śravaṇa, Kīrtana and the highly efficacious Manana of Śiva.
शिवाज्ञया ततः प्राप्तो भगवान्नंदिकेश्वरः । स मे दयालुर्भगवान्सर्वसाक्षी गणेश्वरः १८ ।
At the bidding of Śiva, the divine attendant Nandikeśvara arrived there. That sympathetic lord of Gaṇas, witness of all, lovingly told me about the excellent means of salvation. Viz.—Śravaṇa, Kīrtana and Manana all in conformity with Vedic ideals.
With deep affection, he spoke to me the supreme method of liberation: Listening (śravaṇa), chanting (kīrtana), and meditation (manana) on Lord Śambhu (Shiva), as endorsed by the Vedas.
