ऋषय ऊचुः । सूत सूत महाभाग व्यासशिष्य नमोस्तु ते । तदेव व्यासतो ब्रूहि भस्ममाहात्म्यमुत्तमम् १ ।
The sages said: O Sūta, Sūta the fortunate disciple of Vyāsa, obeisance to thee. Please explain again the glorification of the holy ashes, of the Rudrākṣa and of Śiva’s names. Lovingly explaining the three, please delight our minds.
english translation
तथा रुद्रा क्षमाहात्म्यं नाम माहात्म्यमुत्तमम् । त्रितयं ब्रूहि सुप्रीत्या ममानंदयचेतसम् २ ।
Thus, O Rudra, please speak to us about the supreme glory of the Name and the greatness of the Lord. Please describe the Trinitarian aspect, which will give joy to my heart and mind.

सूत उवाच । साधुपृष्टं भवद्भिश्च लोकानां हितकारकम् । भवंतो वै महाधन्याः पवित्राः कुलभूषणाः ३ ।
Sūta said: It is good that you have referred to this matter that is highly beneficent to the world. You are blessed, holy and ornaments to your families since you own Śiva as your sole great favourite deity.

येषां चैव शिवः साक्षाद्दैवतं परमं शुभम् । सदा शिवकथा लोके वल्लभा भवतां सदा ४ ।
For those to whom Shiva Himself, the supreme and auspicious deity, is directly present, the stories of Shiva in this world always remain dear to them.

ते धन्याश्च कृतार्थाश्च सफलं देहधारणम् । उद्धृतञ्च कुलं तेषां ये शिवं समुपासते ५ ।
Those who adore Śiva are blessed and content. Their birth is fruitful and their family is elevated.
