सांगोपांगमिति प्रोक्तं शिवलिंगप्रपूजनम् । प्रवृत्तानां निवृत्तानां भेदतो द्विविधं द्विजाः ३२ ।

O brahmins, thus I have explained to you the mode of worship of Śiva’s phallic image with all its divisions and sub-divisions. It is of two types: one is enjoined for those who are actively engaged in worldly pursuits and the other is meant for those who have actually renounced them.

english translation

sAMgopAMgamiti proktaM zivaliMgaprapUjanam | pravRttAnAM nivRttAnAM bhedato dvividhaM dvijAH 32 |
