शुद्धप्रदेशसंभूतां मृदमाहृत्य यत्नतः । शिवलिंगं प्रकल्पेत सावधानतया द्विजाः ६ ।
O brahmins, he shall bring clay from a clean place and carefully make the phallic image.
english translation
zuddhapradezasaMbhUtAM mRdamAhRtya yatnataH । zivaliMgaM prakalpeta sAvadhAnatayA dvijAH 6 ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविप्रे गौरा स्मृता शोणा बाहुजे पीतवर्णका । वैश्ये कृष्णा पादजाते ह्यथवा यत्र या भवेत् ७ ।
White clay is to be used by a brahmin; red clay by a Kṣatriya; yellow clay by a Vaiśya and black clay by a Sūdra. Anything available shall be used if the specified clay is not found.
english translation
vipre gaurA smRtA zoNA bAhuje pItavarNakA । vaizye kRSNA pAdajAte hyathavA yatra yA bhavet 7 ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसंगृह्य मृत्तिकां लिंगनिर्माणार्थं प्रयत्नतः । अतीव शुभदेशे च स्थापयेत्तां मृदं शुभाम् ८ ।
After taking the clay he shall place it in an auspicious place for making the image.
english translation
saMgRhya mRttikAM liMganirmANArthaM prayatnataH । atIva zubhadeze ca sthApayettAM mRdaM zubhAm 8 ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसंशोध्य च जलेनापि पिंडीकृत्य शनैः शनैः । विधीयेत शुभं लिंगं पार्थिवं वेदमार्गतः ९ ।
After washing the clay clean with water and kneading it slowly he shall prepare a good earthen phallic image according to the Vedic direction.
english translation
saMzodhya ca jalenApi piMDIkRtya zanaiH zanaiH । vidhIyeta zubhaM liMgaM pArthivaM vedamArgataH 9 ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततः संपूजयेद्भक्त्या भुक्तिमुक्तिफलाप्तये । तत्प्रकारमहं वच्मि शृणुध्वं संविधानतः 1-20-१० ।
Then he shall worship it with devotion for the sake of enjoying worldly pleasures here and salvation hereafter.
english translation
tataH saMpUjayedbhaktyA bhuktimuktiphalAptaye । tatprakAramahaM vacmi zRNudhvaM saMvidhAnataH 1-20-10 ।
