मार्गशीर्षे ह्युषःकाले दिनत्रयमथापि वा । यजेद्देवान्भोगकामो नाधनुर्मासिको भवेत् ६६ ।
A person who desires enjoyment of worldly pleasures shall worship the deities early in the morning throughout the month of Mārgaśīrṣa or at least for three days. No one shall be without sacred rites in the month of Dhanus.
Rites in Dhanurmāsa (month of Dhanus) prescribed for the morning can be performed upto the Sangava time (3 muhūrtas from sunrise). A brahmin shall observe fast in the month of Dhanus and restrain all his senses.
The Brahmin (vipra) should chant the Gayatri mantra, the mother of the Vedas, at midday. After that, he should chant the Panchakshara mantra and other mantras for a week.
ज्ञानं लब्ध्वा च देहांते विप्रो मुक्तिमवाप्नुयात् । अन्येषां नरनारीणां त्रिःस्नानेन जपेन च ६९ ।
After acquiring perfect knowledge he shall attain salvation after death. Other men and women shall repeat the five-syllabled mantra alone throughout and take three baths every day.
