लिंगेप्रसूतिकर्तारं लिंगिनं पुरुषो यजेत् । लिंगार्थगमकं चिह्नं लिंगमित्यभिधीयते १०६ ।
Persons should worship Śiva, the cause of birth, in his phallic form. That which makes the Puruṣa known, is called Liṅga, the symbol.
english translation
liMgeprasUtikartAraM liMginaM puruSo yajet । liMgArthagamakaM cihnaM liMgamityabhidhIyate 106 ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptलिंगमर्थं हि पुरुषं शिवं गमयतीत्यदः । शिवशक्त्योश्च चिह्नस्य मेलनं लिंगमुच्यते १०७ ।
The unification and fusion of the symbols of Śiva and Śakti is thus called Liṅga.
english translation
liMgamarthaM hi puruSaM zivaM gamayatItyadaH । zivazaktyozca cihnasya melanaM liMgamucyate 107 ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस्वचिह्नपूजनात्प्रीतश्चिह्नकार्यं न वीयते । चिह्नकार्यं तु जन्मादिजन्माद्यं विनिवर्तते १०८ ।
The lord delighted at the worship of His symbol wards off the function of the symbol. That function being birth etc, birth etc. cease.
english translation
svacihnapUjanAtprItazcihnakAryaM na vIyate । cihnakAryaM tu janmAdijanmAdyaM vinivartate 108 ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्राकृतैः पुरुषैश्चापि बाह्याभ्यंतरसंभवैः । षोडशैरुपचारैश्च शिवलिंगं प्रपूजयेत् १०९ ।
Hence the devotee shall worship the phallic emblem with the sixteen forms of service and homage to acquire the benefit from Prakṛti and Puruṣa through means inherent or extraneous.
english translation
prAkRtaiH puruSaizcApi bAhyAbhyaMtarasaMbhavaiH । SoDazairupacAraizca zivaliMgaM prapUjayet 109 ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएवमादित्यवारे हि पूजा जन्मनिवर्तिका । आदिवारे महालिंगं प्रणवेनैव पूजयेत् 1-16-११० ।
The worship thus performed on Sundays wards off births. The devotee shall worship the great phallic emblem on Sundays with the syllable Om.
english translation
evamAdityavAre hi pUjA janmanivartikA । AdivAre mahAliMgaM praNavenaiva pUjayet 1-16-110 ।
