व्यास उवाच ॥ विधिं तात वदेदानीं जीव जन्मविधानतः ॥ गर्भे स्थितिं च तस्यापि वैराग्यार्थं मुनीश्वर ॥ १ ॥

Vyāsa said:— O dear, O great sage, for realizing the worldly detachment please mention the detailed mode of the birth of living beings and their stay in the womb.

vyAsa uvAca ॥ vidhiM tAta vadedAnIM jIva janmavidhAnataH ॥ garbhe sthitiM ca tasyApi vairAgyArthaM munIzvara ॥ 1 ॥
