Shiva Purana
अन्नेन धार्य्यते सर्वं विश्वं जगदिदं मुने ॥ अन्नमूर्जस्करं लोके प्राणा ह्यन्ने प्रतिष्ठिताः ॥ ३० ॥
O sage, the entire universe is sustained by food. It is food that infuses virility in the people. The vital airs are founded on food.
english translation
annena dhAryyate sarvaM vizvaM jagadidaM mune ॥ annamUrjaskaraM loke prANA hyanne pratiSThitAH ॥ 30 ॥
