श्रीकृष्ण उवाच ॥ उपमन्यो महाप्राज्ञ शैवप्रवर सन्मते ॥ पुत्रार्थमगमं तप्तुं तपोऽत्र गिरिशस्य हि ॥ ९ ॥

Lord Kṛṣṇa said:— O Upamanyu of great intellect, O foremost of the devotees of Śiva with good intellect. I have come here to perform the panance of Śiva for obtaining a son.

zrIkRSNa uvAca ॥ upamanyo mahAprAjJa zaivapravara sanmate ॥ putrArthamagamaM taptuM tapo'tra girizasya hi ॥ 9 ॥
