॥ देवा ऊचुः ॥ नमो रुद्राय देवाय मदनांतकराय च ॥ स्तुत्याय भूरिभासाय त्रिनेत्राय नमोनमः ॥ १॥
The gods said: Obeisance to lord Śiva, obeisance to the destroyer of Kāma; obeisance, obeisance to one worthy of eulogy; to one of profuse splendour, to the three-eyed lord.
english translation
॥ devA UcuH ॥ namo rudrAya devAya madanAMtakarAya ca ॥ stutyAya bhUribhAsAya trinetrAya namonamaH ॥ 1॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशिपिविष्टाय भीमाय भीमाक्षाय नमोनमः॥ महादेवाय प्रभवे त्रिविष्टपतये नमः ॥२॥
Obeisance to Śiva clad in skin; obeisance to the terrible, to the terrible-eyed, to great lord and to the lord of the three worlds.
english translation
zipiviSTAya bhImAya bhImAkSAya namonamaH॥ mahAdevAya prabhave triviSTapataye namaH ॥2॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptत्वं नाथः सर्वलोकानां पिता माता त्वमीश्वरः ॥ शंभुरीशश्शंकरोसि दयालुस्त्वं विशेषतः ॥ ३ ॥
You are the lord of worlds; you are the father, the mother and the lord; you are Śiva the benefactor. You are particularly compassionate.
english translation
tvaM nAthaH sarvalokAnAM pitA mAtA tvamIzvaraH ॥ zaMbhurIzazzaMkarosi dayAlustvaM vizeSataH ॥ 3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptत्वं धाता सर्वजगतां त्रातुमर्हसि नः प्रभो ॥ त्वां विना कस्समर्थोस्ति दुःखनाशे महेश्वर ॥ ४ ॥
You are the creator of all the worlds; O lord, you shall save us. O great God, except you who else is competent to destroy misery?
english translation
tvaM dhAtA sarvajagatAM trAtumarhasi naH prabho ॥ tvAM vinA kassamarthosti duHkhanAze mahezvara ॥ 4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptब्रह्मोवाच ॥ इत्याकर्ण्य वचस्तेषां सुराणां नन्दिकेश्वरः ॥ कृपया परया युक्तो विज्ञप्तुं शंभुमारभत् ॥ ५ ॥
Brahmā said: On hearing these words of the gods, Nandikeśvara who was endowed with great sympathy began to inform Śiva.
english translation
brahmovAca ॥ ityAkarNya vacasteSAM surANAM nandikezvaraH ॥ kRpayA parayA yukto vijJaptuM zaMbhumArabhat ॥ 5 ॥
