मेनोवाच ॥ निरीक्षिष्यामि प्रथमं मुने तं गिरिजापतिम् ॥ कीदृशं शिवरूपं हि यदर्थे तप उत्तमम्॥१॥
Menā said: O sage, I shall first see the bridegroom of Pārvatī. Let me have an idea of the form and features of Śiva for which she performed the great penance.
english translation
ब्रह्मोवाच ॥ इत्यज्ञानपरा सा च दर्शनार्थं शिवस्य च ॥ त्वया मुने समं सद्यश्चन्द्रशालां समागता ॥ २ ॥
Brahmā said: Thus, urged by ignorance, O sage, she went to the terrace along with you to see Śiva.
english translation
शिवोऽपि च तदा तस्यां ज्ञात्वाहंकारमात्मनः ॥ प्राह विष्णुं च मान्तात लीलाकृत्वाद्भुताम्प्रभुः ॥ ३ ॥
Then Śiva, realising her false pride in herself, spoke to Viṣṇu and me as a part of His wonderful sport.
english translation
शिव उवाच ॥ मदाज्ञया युवान्तातौ सदेवौ च पृथक्पृथक् ॥ गच्छतं हि गिरिद्वारं वयं पश्चाद्व्रजेमहि ॥ ४ ॥
Śiva said: At my bidding, O dear ones, both of you go one by one accompanied by the gods to the threshold of the mountain. I shall follow afterwards.

ब्रह्मोवाच ॥ इत्याकर्ण्य हरिस्सर्वानाहूयोवाच तन्मयाः ॥ सुरास्सर्वे तथैवाशु गमनं चक्रुरुत्सुकाः ॥ ५ ॥
Brahmā said: On hearing it Viṣṇu called all and told them of his suggestion. The gods then walked in accordance with that suggestion enthusiastically.
