पुत्रार्थे पार्थिवी मूर्त्ति शैवी दशरथो हि सः ॥ समानर्च विशेषेण वसि ष्ठस्याज्ञया मुनेः ॥ ३१॥
At the behest of the sage Vasiṣṭha, Daśaratha particularly worshipped the earthen idol of Śiva for obtaining sons.
english translation
putrArthe pArthivI mUrtti zaivI dazaratho hi saH ॥ samAnarca vizeSeNa vasi SThasyAjJayA muneH ॥ 31॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपुत्रेष्टिं च चकारासौ पार्थिवो भवभक्तिमान्॥ ऋष्यशृङ्गमुनेराज्ञां संप्राप्य नृपसत्तमः ॥ ३२ ॥
As directed by Ṛṣyaśṛṅga this excellent king, devoted to Śiva performed the sacrifice called Putreṣṭi.
english translation
putreSTiM ca cakArAsau pArthivo bhavabhaktimAn॥ RSyazRGgamunerAjJAM saMprApya nRpasattamaH ॥ 32 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकौसल्या तत्प्रिया मूर्त्ति पार्थिवीं शांकरीं मुदा ॥ ऋष्यशृंगसमादिष्टा समानर्च सुताप्तये ॥ ३३॥
Urged by Ṛṣyaśṛṅga, Kausalyā, the beloved queen of Daśaratha joyously performed the worship of the earthen idol of Śiva for the acquisition of a son.
english translation
kausalyA tatpriyA mUrtti pArthivIM zAMkarIM mudA ॥ RSyazRMgasamAdiSTA samAnarca sutAptaye ॥ 33॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसुमित्रा च शिवं प्रीत्या कैकेयी नृपवल्लभा॥ पूजयामास सत्पुत्रप्राप्तये मुनिसत्तम ॥ ३४ ॥
O excellent sage, Sumitrā, and Kaikeyi the beloved queens, performed the worship of Śiva with pleasure for the acquisition of good sons.
english translation
sumitrA ca zivaM prItyA kaikeyI nRpavallabhA॥ pUjayAmAsa satputraprAptaye munisattama ॥ 34 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशिवप्रसादतस्ता वै पुत्रान्प्रापुश्शुभंकरान् ॥ महाप्रतापिनो वीरान्सन्मार्गनिरतान्मुने ॥ ३५॥
O sage, they obtained auspicious sons of great valour and prowess who followed the path of the good. It was due to the favour of Śiva.

zivaprasAdatastA vai putrAnprApuzzubhaMkarAn ॥ mahApratApino vIrAnsanmArganiratAnmune ॥ 35॥
