Phaladeepika
सत्त्वं भूफलनं सहोदरगुणं क्रौर्यं रणं साहसं विद्वेषं च महानसाग्निकज्ञात्यस्त्रचोरान्रिपून् । उत्साहं परकामिनीरतिमसत्योक्तिं महोजाद्वदे- द्वीर्यं चित्तसमुन्नतिं च कलुषं सेनाधिपत्यं क्षतम् ॥ ३॥
It is through Mars that a person should ascertain his strength, products derived from the Earth, the qualities of his brothers, cruelty, battle, daring act, odium, kitchen, fire, gold, kindred, weapon, thieves, enemies, energy, attachment to females not his own, uttering falsehood, prowess, mental dignity (loftiness of thought), sin, commanding an army, and wounds.
