दानं धेनो रुद्र रौद्री मुखेन भाग्या भानुर्गोत्र जाया नखेन । पुत्री नित्यं मृत्युभागाः क्रमेण मेषादीनां तेषु जाता गतायुः ॥ ११॥
The following are (also) respectively deemed (by some others) as (Mrityubhagas or fateful degrees) in the several signs from Mesha onwards: 8, 9, 22, 22, 25, 14, 4, 23, 18, 20, 21 and 10.

One may predict the death of the child to occur very soon in the following case : ri, (1) when malefics occupy (by themselves) the 8 th and the Kendra houses, (2) when malefics are all placed in the Ist and the 8 th houses (3) when they occupy the 1 st and the 7 th, (4) when the Moon or the Lagna is betwixt two malefics, (5) if the Moon being devoid of strength occupy the 6 th, the 8 th or the 12 th, (6) if the waning Moon in conjunction with a malefic, is in the 1 st, 5 th, 7 th, or 9 th house (7) if the malefics be in the 8 th and 7 th and (8) when no benefic planets occupy or aspect a Kendra house.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptजन्मेशोऽथ विलग्नपो यदिभवेद्दुस्थोऽबलो वत्सरै- स्तद्राशिप्रमितैश्च मारयति तन्मासैदृर्गाणाधिपः । अंशेशो दिवसैस्तथा यदि मृतिर्द्वित्र्यादियोगान्बहू- नालोच्य प्रवदेत्सुताष्टमगतैः पापैररिष्टं शिशोः ॥ १३॥
When the lord of the Lagna or of the sign occupied by the Moon at birth is weak and badly placed (ie., in the 6 th, 8 th or 12 th house), the child will die within as many years as are represented by the said sign (when counted from Mesha). If the planet owning the Lagna-decanate or the decanate occupied by the Moon be weak and badly placed, the period of exit of the child will be as many months as are represented by the sign owning the decanate in question. The period of life will be so many days from birth as are signified by the Rasi owning the Navamsa Lagna or Chandra Navamsa when the planet owning this is weak and similarly badly-placed. After a careful examination as to which among the two or threo possibilities predominates and what malefics are posiled in the 5 th and the 8 th houses, one ought to divine about the ills of the child.

One should determine the longevity—whether long, medium, or short—based on the relationship between the ascendant (lagna) and the Moon, the lords of those two signs, the lord of the ascendant and the lord of the eighth house, and likewise from the signs of the dṛkkāṇa, the navāṃśaka, and the dvādaśāṃśa, respectively. The determination is made according to whether these pairs reside in movable (cara), fixed (sthira), or dual (dvyaṅga) signs: if they are in a movable and a movable sign, a fixed and a dual sign, or a dual and a fixed sign, they indicate long life; whereas other combinations of movable, fixed, and dual signs indicate medium or short life.

The life of the native may be pronounced as long, medium and short according as the benefics and the lord of the Lagna are all posited in Kendra, Panaphara and Apoklima houses respectively. If the lord of the 8 th house and the malefics occupy similar positions, the reverse should be predicted. Ascertain the friendship or otherwise of the following pairs: (1) the lord of the house occupied by the Moon and that of the 8 th house from the Moon (2) lord of the Lagna and that of the 8 th house from the Lagna and (3) the Sun and the lord of the Lagna. If they are friendly, the native will be long-lived; if inimical, he will be short-lived; if neutral, he will have medium life.
