चतुष्पदादिसज्ज्ञापूर्वक्ं बलित्वकथनम् ।चापापरार्धहरिगोमकरादिमेषा मानस्थिता बलयुताश्च चतुष्पदाख्याः ।कन्यानृयुग्मघटटाऊळीशारषाणड्य लग्नान्विता यदि नरा द्विपदा बलाढ्याः ॥
Now the strength of Aries and the other signs in relation to particular houses, with their quadruped and other designations. The latter half of Sagittarius, Leo, Taurus, the first half of Capricorn, and Aries are called four-footed and are strong when placed in the 10th. Virgo, Gemini, Aquarius, Libra and the first half of Sagittarius [the text is damaged here], if in the lagna, are human, two-footed and strong.

मृगापरार्द्धान्त्यकुलीरसंज्ञा जलाभिधाना बलिनश्चतुर्थे ।जलाश्रयो वृश्चिकनामधेयः स सप्तमस्थानगतो बली स्यात् ॥
The latter half of Capricorn, Pisces (antya) and Cancer are called watery and are strong in the 4th. The water-resorting [sign] named Scorpio is strong when placed in the 7th.

केन्द्रं गतोऽहि द्विपदो बलाढ्यः चतुष्पदाः केन्द्रगता रजन्याम् ।कीटास्तु सर्वे यदि कण्टकस्थाः सन्धिद्वये वीर्ययुता भवन्ति ॥
A two-footed sign placed in a kendra is strong by day (ahni) ; four-footed signs in kendras are strong at night; and all insect signs, if in a kendra (kantaka), are powerful at the two twilights (sandhi).

घातुर्मूलं जीवमित्वाहुरार्या मेषादीनामोजयुग्मे तथैव । स्वर्णाद्वातुर्मृत्तिकान्तं तृणान्तं वृक्षान्मूलं जीवकूटः स जीवः ॥
Now the dhatu, mula and jiva names of the signs. The sages call [the signs] from Aries dhatu (mineral), mula (root) and jiva (living) [in turn: inferred]; likewise in odd and even [signs]. From gold to clay is dhatu; from trees down to grass is mula; the group of living beings is jiva.

मीनालिवृषभा विप्राश्चापाजहरयो नृपाः । कुम्भयुग्मतुला वैश्याः शूद्राः स्त्रीमृगकर्कटाः ॥
Now the caste and other classification of Aries and the rest. Pisces, Scorpio and Taurus are Brahmins; Sagittarius, Aries and Leo are kings (rulers); Aquarius, Gemini and Libra are merchants (vaishyas); Virgo, Capricorn and Cancer are servants (shudras).
