Charak Samhita
(अल्पोदकद्रुमो यस्तु प्रवातः प्रचुरातपः। ज्ञेयः स जाङ्गलो देशः स्वल्परोगतमोऽपि च ॥४७॥
A region that sees scanty rainfall and desert vegetation is called jangala desha (arid land), and such a land is swept by high winds and abundant sunshine. It causes minimum number of diseases.
