त्रयः शोथा भवन्ति वातपित्तश्लेष्मनिमित्ताः, ते पुनर्द्विविधा निजागन्तुभेदेन ॥३॥
[Three types of shotha] There are three types of shothas (swelling) i.e. vataja, pittaja and kaphaja. Further, they can be classified into two i.e. nija (endogenous) and agantuja (exogenous).
