Charak Samhita
प्रतिमर्शो भवेत् स्नेहो निर्दोष उभयार्थकृत्। एवं तद्रेचनं कर्म तर्पणं शमनं त्रिधा॥९२॥
Pratimarsha is an oleative type of errhine without any adverse effects whatsoever and serves both (oleation and purification). Hence, the above mentioned 5 types of errhines fall into 3 categories – rechana (purificatory), tarpana (nourishing) and samana (palliative).
