आधानजन्मापरिबोधकाले सम्पृच्छतो जन्म वदेद्विलग्नात् ॥ पूर्वापरार्धे भवनस्य विन्द्याद्भानाबुदग्दक्षिणगे प्रसूतिम् ॥ २६-१ ॥

When the time of impregnation or birth cannot be reasoned; from the inquired (prashna reading), one should declare the birth. From the lagna in the first and last halves of the house, one should know the birth when the Sun was situated in the northern or southern (ayana).

english translation

AdhAnajanmAparibodhakAle sampRcchato janma vadedvilagnAt ॥ pUrvAparArdhe bhavanasya vindyAdbhAnAbudagdakSiNage prasUtim ॥ 26-1 ॥
