दूर्वास्वरससिद्धं तु कफपित्तोत्तरे घृतम् । एकतः सर्वकर्माणि रक्तमोक्षणमेकतः ॥ ३६ ॥
Alternatively, a medicated ghee prepared exclusively with the fresh juice of dūrvā (Cynodon dactylon) is highly effective for treating wounds that manifest a predominance of Kapha and Pitta. On one side weigh all the therapeutic measures combined, and on the other side stands blood-letting (rakta-mokṣana) alone.

Indeed, vīsarpa (erysipelas) never manifests without the structural involvement and vitiation of Rakta (blood) and Pitta; blood is the primary seat and substratum of this disease. Therefore, one should eliminate the corrupted blood frequently (in small or required quantities, bahuśo) from the body.

Medicated ghee that does not possess purgative properties should never be administered to a vīsarpa patient who has highly aggravated or deep-seated doshas. If given, the ghee stagnates and traps (upastabdha) the morbid doshas, which then rapidly suppurate and destroy (pacet) the skin (tvak), blood (rakta), and muscular tissues (piśita).
