एवं शास्त्रम् इदं युक्तम् एताभिस् तन्त्र युक्तिभिः । अवाप्तौ पालने च उक्तं लोकस्य अस्य परस्य च ॥
Thus this Sástra, conforming to these paragraphic divisions is composed as a guide to acquire and secure this and the other world.
english translation
धर्मम् अर्थं च कामं च प्रवर्तयति पाति च । अधर्म अनर्थ विद्वेषान् इदं शास्त्रं निहन्ति च ॥
This treatise promotes dharma , artha, and kāma, and it also protects them. It eliminates unrighteousness, misfortune, and malice.
english translation
येन शास्त्रं च शस्त्रं च नन्द राज गता च भूः । अमर्षेण उद्धृतान्य् आशु तेन शास्त्रम् इदं कृतम् ॥
This Sástra has been made by him who from intolerance (of misrule) quickly rescued the scriptures and the science of weapons and the earth which had passed to the Nanda king.
