यश् च अत्र शूर वादिको अन्यतमो वा द्रष्टुम् आगच्छेत् तम् अन्ये लोह मुसलैर् हन्युः, यथा रक्षोभिर् हत इति ज्ञायेत ॥
Whoever accepts the challenge may be beaten to death by others with rods, making the people believe that he was killed by demons.

तद् अद्भुतं राज्ञस् तद् दर्शिनः सत्त्रिणश् च कथयेयुः ॥
Spies and other witnesses may inform the king of this wonder.

ततो नैमितित्क मौहूर्तिक व्यञ्जनाः शान्तिं प्रायश् चित्तं ब्रूयुः "अन्यथा महद् अकुशलं राज्ञो देशस्य च" इति ॥
Then spies, disguised as sooth-sayers and astrologers may prescribe auspicious and expiatory rites to avert the evil consequences which would otherwise overtake the king and his country.

प्रतिपन्नं "एतेषु सप्त रात्रम् एक एक मन्त्र बलि होमं स्वयं राज्ञा कर्तव्यम्" इति ब्रूयुः ॥
When the king agrees to the proposal he may be asked to perform in person special sacrifices and offerings with special mantras every night for seven days.

Then (while doing this, he may be slain) as before.
