पश्चात् कोपे साम दान भेद दण्डान् प्रयुञ्जीत ॥
Thereafter, when anger arises, one should employ the four means of conciliation, bribery, sowing dissension, and physical force.

pazcAt kope sAma dAna bheda daNDAn prayuJjIta ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपुरस्ताल् लाभे सेना पतिं कुमारं वा दण्ड चारिणं कुर्वीत ॥
To secure gains in the beginning, one should appoint either the commander of the army or the heir-apparent to lead the forces.

purastAl lAbhe senA patiM kumAraM vA daNDa cAriNaM kurvIta ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptबलवान् वा राजा पश्चात् कोप अवग्रह समर्थः पुरस्ताल् लाभम् आदातुं यायात् ॥
Or the king himself may go in person to receive the profit in the front.

balavAn vA rAjA pazcAt kopa avagraha samarthaH purastAl lAbham AdAtuM yAyAt ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअभ्यन्तर कोप शङ्कायां शङ्कितान् आदाय यायात्, बाह्य कोप शङ्कायां वा पुत्र दारम् एषाम् ॥
if he is able to ward off the annoyance in the rear. If he is apprehensive of internal troubles, he may take with him the suspected leaders.

abhyantara kopa zaGkAyAM zaGkitAn AdAya yAyAt, bAhya kopa zaGkAyAM vA putra dAram eSAm ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअभ्यन्तर अवग्रहं कृत्वा शून्य पालम् अनेक बल वर्गम् अनेक मुख्यं च स्थापयित्वा यायात्, न वा यायात् ॥
After performing an internal obstruction, one should station an empty guard, numerous divisions of troops , and many commanders, and then either proceed or not proceed.

abhyantara avagrahaM kRtvA zUnya pAlam aneka bala vargam aneka mukhyaM ca sthApayitvA yAyAt, na vA yAyAt ॥
