तत् कुलीनम् अपरुद्धं वा हिरण्येन प्रतिलोभ्य ब्रूयात् "अन्तर् बलं प्रत्यन्त स्कन्धम् अन्तं वा अस्य प्रमृद्नीहि" इति ॥
Or some one of the family (of the commander-in-chief or the king), or one who is imprisoned may be bribed in gold and told: "Destroy the internal strength of the enemy, or a portion of his force in the border of his country."

आटविकान् अर्थ मानाभ्याम् उपगृह्य राज्यम् अस्य घातयेत् ॥
Or having seduced wild tribes with rewards of wealth and honour, they may be incited to devastate the enemy's country.

पार्ष्णि ग्राहं वा अस्य ब्रूयात् "एष खलु राजा माम् उच्छिद्य त्वाम् उच्छेत्स्यति, पार्ष्णिम् अस्य गृहाण, त्वयि निवृत्तस्य अहं पार्ष्णिं ग्रहीष्यामि" इति ॥
Or the enemy's rear-enemy may be told : "I am, as it were, a bridge to you all; if I am broken like a rafter, this king will drown you all; let us, therefore, combine and thwart the enemy in his march."

मित्राणि वा अस्य ब्रूयात् "अहं वः सेतुः, मयि विभिन्ने सर्वान् एष वो राजा प्लावयिष्यति, सम्भूय वा अस्य यात्रां विहनाम" इति ॥
Or one should say to his allies: "I am your protector, like a dike; if I am destroyed, this king will overwhelm you all. Therefore, let us unite to obstruct his military expedition."

तत् संहतानाम् असंहतानां च प्रेषयेत् "एष खलु राजा माम् उत्पाट्य भवत्सु कर्म करिष्यति, बुध्यध्वम्, अहं वः श्रेयान् अभ्युपपत्तुम्" इति ॥
Therefore, one should send the following message to both allied and unallied states: "Having uprooted me, this king will certainly turn his attention toward you. Take heed! I am the better choice for you to approach for protection."
