प्रत्यासन्नो वा राजानं सत्त्री ग्राहयेत् "असौ च असौ च ते महा मात्रः शत्रु पुरुषैः सम्भाषते" इति ॥
A spy employed as the personal servant of the king (the enemy) may inform him that such and such ministers of his are being interviewed by the enemy's servants.

प्रतिपन्ने दूष्यान् अस्य शासन हरान् दर्शयेत् "एतत् तत्" इति ॥
When he comes to believe this, some treacherous persons may be represented as the messengers of the enemy, specifying as "this is that."

सेना मुख्य प्रकृति पुरुषान् वा भूम्या हिरण्येन वा लोभयित्वा स्वेषु विक्रमयेद् अपवाहयेद् वा ॥
By enticing the generals, high-ranking ministers, or leading citizens with offers of land or gold , one should incite them to turn against their own people or induce them to defect.

यो अस्य पुत्रः समीपे दुर्गे वा प्रतिवसति तं सत्त्रिणा उपजापयेत् "आत्म सम्पन्नतरस् त्वं पुत्रः, तथा अप्य् अन्तर् हितः, तत् किम् उपेक्षसे विक्रम्य गृहाण, पुरा त्वा युव राजो विनाशयति" इति ॥
If one of the sons of the commander-in-chief is living near or inside the fort, a spy may tell him: "You are the most worthy son; still you are neglected; why are you indifferent? Seize your position by force; otherwise the heir-apparent will destroy you."
