ऋषय ऊचुः । पार्थिवप्रतिमापूजाविधानं ब्रूहि सत्तम । येन पूजाविधानेन सर्वाभिष्टमवाप्यते १ ।
The sages said: O excellent one, please explain the rules of the worship of clay idols by following which all desired results will be achieved.
english translation
RSaya UcuH । pArthivapratimApUjAvidhAnaM brUhi sattama । yena pUjAvidhAnena sarvAbhiSTamavApyate 1 ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसूत उवाच । सुसाधुपृष्टं युष्माभिः सदा सर्वार्थदायकम् । सद्यो दुःखस्य शमनं शृणुत प्रब्रवीमि वः २ ।
You have requested for a very good thing. It bestows all wealth always. It suppresses misery instantaneously. I shall explain it. Please listen.
english translation
sUta uvAca । susAdhupRSTaM yuSmAbhiH sadA sarvArthadAyakam । sadyo duHkhasya zamanaM zRNuta prabravImi vaH 2 ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअपमृत्युहरं कालमृत्योश्चापि विनाशनम् । सद्यः कलत्रपुत्रादिधनधान्यप्रदं द्विजाः ३ ।
It wards off premature and foul death. Even a timely death it prevents. O brahmins, it bestows womenfolk, sons, wealth, grains etc.
english translation
apamRtyuharaM kAlamRtyozcApi vinAzanam । sadyaH kalatraputrAdidhanadhAnyapradaM dvijAH 3 ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअन्नादिभोज्यं वस्त्रादिसर्वमुत्पद्यते यतः । ततो मृदादिप्रतिमापूजाभीष्टप्रदा भुवि ४ ।
The worship of idols made of clay etc. is conducive to the attainment of all cherished desires in the world. From it the devotee derives food and other edible things, cloth etc.
english translation
annAdibhojyaM vastrAdisarvamutpadyate yataH । tato mRdAdipratimApUjAbhISTapradA bhuvi 4 ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपुरुषाणां च नारीणामधिकारोत्र निश्चितम् । नद्यां तडागे कूपे वा जलांतर्मृदमाहरेत् ५ ।
Both men and women are authorized in this. The clay should be brought from the beds of rivers, lakes or wells.
english translation
puruSANAM ca nArINAmadhikArotra nizcitam । nadyAM taDAge kUpe vA jalAMtarmRdamAharet 5 ।
