कर्तृत्वं करणत्वं च कार्यत्वं चेति लक्षणम् । शान्तघोरविमूढत्वमिति वा स्यादहङ्कृतेः ॥ ३-२६-२६ ॥
This false ego is characterized as the doer, as an instrument and as an effect. It is further characterized as serene, active or dull according to how it is influenced by the modes of goodness, passion and ignorance. ॥ 3-26-26 ॥
english translation
यह अहंकार कर्ता, करण (साधन) तथा कार्य (प्रभाव) के लक्षणों वाला होता है। सतो, रजो तथा तमो गुणों के द्वारा यह जिस प्रकार प्रभावित होता है उसी के अनुसार यह शान्त, क्रियावान या मन्द लक्षण वाला माना जाता है। ॥ ३-२६-२६ ॥
